Matt Tarka - “Comets”

Matt Tarka released his latest single, “Comets” in November 2021 and last week he premiered the lyric music video for “Comets” on his YouTube page.  Tarka continues a pattern of creating music with thought provoking lyrics.  He has a very artistic style in the way he presents his music through videos.  “Comets” is open to interpretation (like many of his songs) and keeps the listener guessing.  You’ll be listening to one line and you think you’ve figured out the meaning behind the lyrics, but then the next line steers you in another direction.  That’s one of the beauties of music; the songwriter most likely is thinking about something completely different than when the listener hears the song.

“Whatever they say we are, could not be further from the truth,” is a lyric that is repeated twice in “Comets.”  This may have you thinking about a popular saying, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.”  Unfortunately, as much as we try not to judge something, it’s easier said than done.  However, judging could have you missing out on something or someone spectacular.  This happens in music frequently.  Depending on your favorite genre of music, you may deprive yourself of an amazing song or artist just because they don’t produce the typical style you listen to.

Matt Tarka entices the listener to dig deep into the intriguing lyrics of “Comets” while also experiencing a flashback to the 70s era with a trippy vibe in the instrumentation of this track.  Tarka’s artistic approach to creating his music is what makes him a unique singer/songwriter.  It’s hard to compare his music to anyone else out there because he’s truly one of a kind.
