Mandala - You Should Be Dancin’ (feat. Mia Bertino)

Insecurities.  We all have them.  As much as we try to talk ourselves out of these thoughts, it’s a difficult thing to do.  Sometimes you have to look deep in your soul and find that inner voice that helps you overcome those insecurities.  On Mandala’s latest single, “You Should Be Dancin’,'' that's exactly what he does.

Like the previous music I’ve reviewed of Mandala’s (the Chronicles of a Blind Man EP and “Modern Struggle”), he lays everything out on the table.  He is an open book.  When listening to his music and watching footage of his live performances on his social media pages, you’d think that he’s a confident rapper who’s ready to throw down with the best of them.  While he’s always ready to throw down with the best of them, he’s fought off a lot of inner demons and insecurities to get to this point in his career.

In the first single off his upcoming debut album (tentative release date of May 28th, 2021), “You Should Be Dancin’” is a reflection of his past psychological issues and insecurities associated with calling himself a “rapper.”  The chorus, which is sung by his sister, Mia, is the voice of confidence pushing him forward and telling him to go deeper into his passions and not settle for material goods.  Mia’s voice pairs perfectly with her brother’s, as we also heard on the track “Blind Love” on the Chronicles of a Blind Man EP. Mandala has a talent for painting a picture with his lyrics.  The listener can actually envision each verse and chorus like scenes from a movie.

“You Should Be Dancin’” has more of a pop feel compared to previous tracks released from Mandala.  It’s got an infectious beat that will have you turning it up loud through your speakers and bobbin’ your head to the music from start to finish.  If this is a preview of what’s to come from the upcoming album, it’s clear that Mandala has grown musically and listeners should be excited for more music soon.
